Flipkart Opens 30,000 Seasonal Jobs Before Festive Season

Flipkart, the e-commerce major, this week claimed that it has included 30,000 jobs in its logistics and supply chain operations, before the festive sale. The Walmart-supported firm will vie head-on against rival Amazon this festive season. Flipkart, which will conduct the 5th iteration of its BBD (Big Billion Days) sale this month, also anticipates its seller associates to have included more than 5 Lakh indirect jobs at their end.

“Making sure that our users have a faultless shopping experience, we need the economy as well to advantage from the elevated activity. By creating employment and allowing our merchants to branch out their businesses during festive season, we are playing an essential role in boosting the sector and consequently the economy,” claimed Kalyan Krishnamurthy, CEO at Flipkart, to the media in an interview.

The seasonal appointment by Flipkart is spread all over the complete supply chain—from warehouses to delivery hubs and mother hubs. The extra indirect jobs generated at seller ends are in warehouse management and packaging.

Speaking of Flipkart, earlier the retail firm along with Paytm and Future Group has designed a content war in opposition to e-commerce giant Amazon.com. The three major retail and e-commerce giants are all geared up to spend over $100 Million in releasing and producing entertainment material for their consumer base. It will not only permit the consumers to converse but will also comprise cricket, live TV, news, entertainment videos, and also a handful of games. The pipeline has been decided, and the firm is all ready to pump in just about $30 Million in this sector.
